We’ve recently been made aware of multiple issues affecting OSX users running the latest version of Java. Apple is aware of the issue as a number of our customers have contacted Apple Support directly. While we’re certain the issue is not with our software, we have yet to find a satisfactory solution to the problem. The issue appears to be intermittent, and the necessary error data needed to determine the problem is not being generated. As neither our application nor the browsers have made any significant recent updates, we suspect the issue lies with the latest version of Java itself.

For the time being, our recommended suggestion is to attempt to install Java 7 Update 79 or later manually from https://www.java.com/en/download/manual_java7.jsp - You may wish to first uninstall the present version of Java you have. Instructions can be found at https://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_uninstall_java.xml

It is our hope that Oracle or Apple will find a permanent solution to this problem in the near future.

Java has been a continued source of problems for us the past couple years. The next version of AddonChat, AddonChat X, is expected to be released to the general public by the end of the month. AddonChat X is a full-featured HTML5 solution that does not require Java or any other browser plugin. It is currently in the late stages of Beta testing and is available free of use to the general public. We’re encouraging as many customers as we can now to migrate to AddonChat X as soon as possible. To learn more and get the software, visit http://www.addonchatx.com/

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this issue.
